Favorite Holiday Recipe Share

With the holidays fast approaching, many of us are beginning to think about the food aspect of the holiday. (This is one of my favorite things about this time of year!) Whether you are planning to bake cookies, preparing menus for holiday parties, choosing which appetizers you will be serving, or making homemade goodies to give as gifts, you are most likely using a favorite recipe- maybe one that has been passed down through the generations or given to you by a friend. I have some favorites that I can count on to please my family and friends, but this year, I would love to try some new recipes as well.

Let's help one another prepare for that busy upcoming holiday cooking and baking season. Share your holiday recipes with us!

When it comes to cookies, my favorite to bake is the snickerdoodle. There's just something about that buttery cinnamon aroma filling the house that makes me think of my grandma and the memories I have of baking with her when I was a little girl. These old-fashioned cookies are not only simple to make but are irresistible to eat as well. With slightly crisp edges and a sweet chewy center, you will find it hard to stop at one cookie. :)

Here's a great recipe for Snickerdoodles that I found on Allrecipes.com:

Cream together butter, shortening, 1 1/2 cups sugar, the eggs and the vanilla. Blend in the flour, cream of tartar, soda and salt. Shape dough by rounded spoonfuls into balls.

Mix the 2 tablespoons sugar and the cinnamon. Roll balls of dough in mixture. Place 2inches apart on ungreased baking sheets.
Bake 8 to 10 minutes, or until set but not too hard. Remove immediately from baking sheets.
