I'm loving Younique products!

Ok, so I haven't been a makeup-obsessed girl all my life. I went through the blue eye shadow and bring pink cheeks fad in the 80s. Even so, once I got older and had my boys, makeup just didn't seem all that important to me. The idea of worrying about fine lines and wrinkles seemed lile such an unimportant thing to me.

Fast forward to now. I am in my 40s, and not only have i become obsessed with makeup, I am terrified of fine lines and wrinkles!

I have tried so many different brands of cosmetics. One thing I learned quickly is that drug store makeup is NOT good for my skin! No way.

A friend introduced me to Younique. It is a natural-based cosmetics and skin care line. That means it is great for my skin. Score! I've been wearing it now for about 6 months, and I can't see myself ever switching to any other brand.

First time coloring my own hair...

At 45 years old, I am cursed with gray hair. Ugh. I can't stand it. I definitely do not feel old. Not one bit. Yet, my hair tells a very different story.

Usually, once I notice the gray I waste no tome calling my hairdresser Carrie so she can work her magic and make those ugly gray hairs disappear.

For whatever, the last time I called, Carrie was not able to get me on her calendar anytime soon. I figured sooner or later an appointment would open up. So, I waited. Too long. My gray hair had become so obvious that my students were telling me I looked old. Not what I want to hear.

So, I decided to take matters in my own hands.

I went to the store and must have spent 45 minutes looking at all the different, overwhelming choices in hair dye products. I finally chose one by L'Oreal {Superior Preference, Medium Golden Brown}, and before I could chicken out, paid for it.

Getting up the guts to actually go through with the coloring took more time. That box of hair color sat on my bathroom counter for a few days before I decided to take the plunge.

I read the instructions {three times}, and then I {very nervously} applied the smelly dye to my hair. I set my timer for 30 minutes and waited.

During that 30 minute wait, I started to get extremely nervous. {I almost washed the dye out of my hair immediately.} self-doubt gnawed away at me.  What if my hair turned orange? What if the color fried my hair so badly that I'd have to cut all my hair off? And the worst fear- what if it didn't work and my hair was still gray?

At the ding of the timer, I rinsed the color and applied the conditioner that came with the kit. I wrapped my hair in a towel right away, too afraid to look at my hair just yet.  {I was absolutely certain I'd end up looking like a freak!}

Once I finally removed the towel and dried my hair, I looked in the mirror. I have to admit, I was pretty darn pleased with myself.

No orange. No damage. No gray.   Success!

It goes without saying, I am extremely relieved that this worked out.  Even so, I am not too sure I will try it again.  I think it might be best to leave this sort of thing to someone who knows what they are doing.  Who knows?  I might change my mind.  Maybe I will even try a different color next time.  Or not.

My Feet Are Toasty Warm and Bone Dry Thanks to Jambu Footwear~ Review

{My Review}
As soon as I first saw the Nomad boots, I liked them! The design super-stylish. The faux-fur trim and the pink contrast stitching are my favorite details, in addition to the fact that these boots are toasty and waterproof (a very important detail for when I am chasing my dog through slush puddles!) Most boots that look cute are not comfortable. Well, Jambu got it right with these Nomad boots because they are both.

The Nomad boots fit great too! I ordered a size 7, my regular shoe size, and am pleased that even with a slightly thicker sock, these boots still fit great! I am so ready for the snow now!

I love jewelry. In fact, I do think I have a serious addiction to rings, necklaces, bracelets... There's nothing wrong with that. What girl doesn't enjoy a little bling every now and then? It arrives in a jewelry gift box which would make this bracelet a great gift.

I have been wearing my bracelet for the past two weeks. I have even showered with it on, and I can say the quality is great. I haven't noticed any problems at all. The bracelet looks as great today as it did on the day it arrived.

So long messy purse! Pouchee Purse Organizer~ Review and Giveaway

Until recently, my purse has been a hot mess! Really. I love a big handbag (One look in my closet at my huge handbag collection would prove that!), but I'll tell you, the bigger the bag, the more junk I throw in it. Fall is slowly creeping in, and I love it! Truly, it is my favorite season. It's a time of sweatshirt weather, football season, pumpkin patch visiting, hot apple cider drinking, and so much more! Jambu sent me a pair of black Valencia boots to review. This boot is one of the many styles available in the Jambu Sporty-Wedge design.

{About Valencia}
This bootie is a perfect transitional shoe. The sleek design and attention to details makes it stylish as well as practical and comfortable. The exposed stitching and imprint design on the front, combined with the imprint detailing on the heel and fur trim makes is a great looking shoe. A zipper on the inside of the boot allows for an easy closure system. The Valencia comes in black and brown.


{My Review}
As soon as I saw the Valencia boots, I liked them! The design is fun and stylish. The faux-fur trim is my favorite detail, as it is not only super-cozy, but extremely hip too (a fact this 41 year-old mom can still very much appreciate!). I also like the contrast stitching. It adds flair without being too flashy.

I have been wearing my boots for about a week, and honestly, I can tell you that these are THE most comfortable shoes I have EVER owned! I ordered a size 7, which is what I normally wear, and they fit perfectly, even with a thicker sock. There is plenty of wiggle room in the toe box which makes me happy as I really dislike squished toes.

Though casual, the Valencia boot is also versatile. I love that I can wear these boots with jeans or with my casual black pants that I sometimes wear to work. Speaking of work, I want to add that as a teacher, I am on my feet ALL DAY. I need a shoe that is comfortable. This is a must. The Valencia boots are perfect for work because after standing and walking in them for eight straight hours, I felt no discomfort at all. I am not sure if that is because of the wedge design of the heel or because of the extra cushioning in the boots which is actually a memory foam insole. Whatever the reason, I am sold that these shoes are simply the best shoe for my feet. Period.

The real bonus feature of any Jambu shoe is the fact that they are eco-friendly. I like knowing that my Valencia boots are made of partially recycled materials. Wearing Jambu shoes is just one more step I can take toward living a more earth-friendly life.

{Why Sulfate-Free?}
Sulfate is the informal name for a group of cleansing ingredients called alkyl

{My review}
As I mentioned,I have been using the ENJOY products for a little over a month (actually more like 6 weeks). I noticed that I need very little product in my hair. The shampoo lathers very nicely and both smell wonderful! There is no waxy build-up at all. Additionally, I notice that my color lasts longer and fades less when I use the ENJOY products. My hair is now shiny, full, and feels so soft. I love that!

Last week I went to the salon for a cut and color, and the hair dresser asked me what I am doing differently with my hair. Confused, I asked her what she meant. Neutrogena UltraSheer Liquid Daily Sunblock {Review}

My family and I tend to spend a lot of time outdoors, especially in the summer months. We go to the pool, zoo, vacations, baseball games, picnics, and so much more. One of the things I carry with me everywhere we go is sunscreen, and we slather it on every hour.

My little sister was diagnosed with melanoma several years ago, and seeing what she has had to endure, I have promised myself that I will do my best to protect my family from the dangers that the sun can cause. Therefore, we tend to spend a fortune on high spf sunscreen.

One of my biggest gripes about sunscreen is that it tends to be greasy and sticky. Sprays don't seem to work very well at providing great, even coverage. Sunscreen sticks get yucky to deal with after a couple of uses too.

When I first heard about Neutrogena UltraSheer Liquid Daily Sunblock, I was hesitant to believe the claim that it is non-greasy. Even so, I was eager to give it a try.

Tidal Labs sent me two bottles of sunscreen, and as soon as I received it, I cleaned my face and applied it underneath makeup. I was pleasantly surprised that the sunscreen dried quickly on my face and had no greasy residue at all. Then, I went to a baseball game. It was an extremely hot and humid day in the sun, and at the end of the day, my face and neck did not burn at all.

The SPF for the Neutrogena Ultrasheer is 70, which is fantastic for my fair skin which tends to burn easily. I have also used the sunscreen on my sons and have had the exact same results. That makes me a very happy momma.

Well, summer may be winding down to an end, but I refuse to waste these beautiful days in the sun worrying about school starting soon. I plan to cram every bit of summer goodness into these next few weeks. :) Doing so means I will be on my feet for hours in the hot sun, and the drawback to that is that by the end of the day, my legs ache. I absolutely love using lucky legs cooling serum! Wow! Talk about a treat for the legs. It's a spa treatment without ever leaving the house. Truly.

The serum leaves a slight shimmer on my legs which I thing looks great. Currently, my legs are a bit tanned, so the serum is really bringing out the gorgeous color.

I have used the serum after a day at the pool and really like how much the serum relaxes my legs. (I do think the scent works like aromatherapy for tired legs too!) I have also used mama mio lucky legs after spending time touring San Francisco. When I used it right before bed, the achiness went away. When used in the morning or afternoon, the serum gives my legs new life, so to speak, so I can keep going. I am also looking forward to using it for calming relief after long days on my feet as a teacher (even though I do NOT want to think about going back to school yet!).
