Scrapbook Sunday

Technically, these are not scrapbook layouts. They are planner and memory planner layouts. I don't have enough mobility in my right hand yet to return to scrapbooking, but I find creating layouts in my planners to be a fun substitution for now. :)

Scrapbook Sunday

Recently. I was introduced to the idea of a memory journal in a traveler's notebook. Intrigued, I scoured Pinterest, Instagram and Facebook for ideas and information. The more I read and the more photos I saw, I knew I wanted to create my own memory book.

The first item I bought was a gorgeous handcrafted leather notebook from the Etsy seller ImperfectlyPerkeft. {Isn't she a beauty?} J. was a pleasure to work with. She patiently answered all of my questions and offered suggestions regarding the stain color and size. The most difficult part of the process was choosing a design. There are so many lovely examples offered in the shop. I liked many of them, but ultimately, the dandelion won out. I will definitely be a repeat customer!

The traveler's notebook cover holds several notebooks inside. This confusing to me as well. I asked J. for a suggestion for purchasing the notebooks. She offered several. I fell in LOVE with inserts created by Natalie of The Herd- Artichokes and Elephants on Etsy, but the shop was on vacation while Natalie relocated to Canada, I decided to try my hand at making my own insert.

Youtube has countless videos about traveler's notebooks. Fortunately, I was able to find a video on a simple way to create my own notebook insert. The actual process was a lot harder than I expected. Though I completed one, I must admit, I cannot wait for The Herd- Elephants and Artichokes to reopen. :)

I've completed two memory notebook pages so far. It's a little strange for me to be creating with paper again, but at the same time, it feels amazing! I forgot how satisfying it is to create something from scratch. I'm looking forward to creating my next page. I'll update next week. :)

Scrapbook Sunday

For my first Scrapbook Sunday I want to share a digital layout I created.  I'm drawn to this particular layout because it's about my life growing up with my family.  Celebrating my brother's marriage with my parents and siblings left me feeling nostalgic.

As the oldest child of four, I'd definitely admit my parents were a bit stricter with me than they were with my brother and sisters.  (I was also the kid who got blamed for everything!) I remember being jealous of all the attention they seemed to get from my parents. Even so, looking back, I must say that my parents gave the four of us an incredible childhood.

We did so many things together (meals, church, movies, vacations, etc.) and it was obvious to us that family always came first for our parents.  I learned a great deal about family from my mom and dad.  How could I not? I had incredible role models! The values my parents taught us have certainly shaped the way I parent my own two sons. Yes, I am blessed to have such a close and loving family.
