This past October, I noticed that my migraines were getting more intense and were happening more frequently. At one point, the pain became so unbearable that I went to the ER. I was admitted, had numerous tests done (including a spinal tap), and was discharged in a couple of days. I wasn't home a day before the migraines were back with a vengeance. I went back to the ER.
After yet another spinal tap and blood tests, I was told that I might possibly have a brain aneurysm and would need to be transferred to another hospital. Once there, after more tests, it was determined NOT to be an aneurysm. Rather, I was experiencing complex migraines.
As a result of those migraines, my vision worsened to the point that I could no longer see well out of my left eye (which just so happened to be my good eye), and I had no field of vision. Yikes! It was some scary stuff.
The neuro-opthalmologist I saw in the hospital instructed me to wait a few months to see if any of the vision returned before seeing my eye doctor. It didn't, so I scheduled an appointment. After, I was told that I had one eye that was near-sighted and one eye that was far-sighted. Additionally, I still had field of vision difficulties. The end result was a pair of progressive lenses.
My goodness! The first time I put them on, I felt like Alice in Wonderland. Everything was blurry for a few minutes, and I was extremely dizzy. I was told that my eyes just needed to adjust.
Well, guess what? I can SEE! I am so dang excited! I am still mastering the reading part. I just haven't yet found my sweet spot, but that will happen sooner or later.
So, yes, my new glasses are the perfect birthday gift for me. Being able to see clearly again is just amazing!
By the way, don't mind the messy, gray hair in the picture. I haven't had time to color my hair. Today is dress down day at work, so the messy bun seemed fitting. :)
