I did it! I finally did it! I am a PA real estate salesperson {who is still waiting for her license to arrive}!

Even though I am a teacher, I have always been interested in real estate. I have always regretted not following that dream decades ago. Last summer, a realtor friend mentioned that I should consider going to school to get my real estate salesperson license. I was intrigued immediately, yet I didn't think I had the time or money to go back to school.

My husband and I talked about trying to find a way for me to attend real estate school. The same friend who encouraged me to give it a go told me that I was able to do all of the course work online. That sounded achievable. No, I didn't have too much free time. Teaching, tutoring, and being a wife and mom kept me more than just a little busy. Even so, I couldn't stop thinking about becoming a realtor.

I researched online real estate schools, and chose the one that had the best reviews. My husband and parents paid for the class as an early Christmas gift. I was thrilled!

However, life happened, and I just couldn't devote the necessary time to the online classes. What seemed to be a perfect idea months before suddenly became difficult to accomplish. I made lots of excuses about why I couldn't do it, but what it really boiled down to was that I am not the kind of person who can learn {and force myself to do the work} online. After a few months, I quit trying. I felt awful about it. I hated disappointing my husband and parents, and I hated disappointing myself.

One day I was browsing the Groupon web app on my phone and stumbled on a Groupon for real estate classes. I skipped the ad quickly since I already knew I blew that chance already. My husband checked it out and told me it had to be a sign that I was meant to become a real estate agent. The Groupon was for physical classes through the Alan Kells School of Real Estate.

I looked into the school, and soon agreed with my husband. Not only were the classes ones where I sat in a classroom with other students and a teacher, but they were also offered on weekends. I knew I could make that happen. Better yet, I had a coupon code for Groupon which made the final cost of the class ridiculously cheap.

So, I attended the classes, passed the final exams and set up the date and time for my PA Licensing Exam. I studied for hours every single day. It paid off because I passed the test!

I am currently waiting for my license to come in the mail. Meanwhile, I have been spending my days at Century 21 American Heritage Realty learning all I can to jump start my new career once my license arrives. The manager I'm working with is a great friend of mine, so I am blessed she agreed to hire me. I'm also excited about the other agents in the office. They have all been so helpful. The office feels like a family, so I know I am right where I belong.
